Tests from overseas were rejected that could have gotten the U.S. testing capacity up and going much sooner. Eventually, the CDC would admit that their early tests were giving false positives, requiring a rework. That’s how we ended up where we are today, with private companies doing the lion’s share of the heavy lifting to get this done. The fact that those private companies had to get involved is a pretty good signal that the CDC screwed this up.

Now I want to see Rush Limbaugh show up at the next press briefing and ask a question. Heads would explode!

Maybe because of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE).

Why are federal workers are allowed to unionize?

She's referring to the "Presidential Election Campaign Fund", but I think we should pressure all of the failed presidential candidates to donate their unspent funds as well. "Do it for the children!"

Everything that Trump says and does is towards the greater good. I'm sure he believes that it is to his benefit to praise the Chinese leader at this moment. Remember how he played little Kim?

I was about to post a question about this. Details?

Was it Stephen Collinson of CNN?

Thank you for the archive link. I know that it takes a while, but it is appreciated.

Unlike Hunter Biden she has real world experience:

From Wiki:

After graduating from Clemson University, Randhawa worked for FCR Corporation, a waste management and recycling company, before joining her family's clothing business. She later became Exotica International's controller[14] and chief financial officer.[15]

Randhawa married Michael Haley in 1996.[16] She later became busy in civic affairs. In 1998, she was named to the board of directors of the Orangeburg County Chamber of Commerce. She was named to the board of directors of the Lexington Chamber of Commerce in 2003. Haley became treasurer of the National Association of Women Business Owners in 2003, and president in 2004.[17]

Haley chaired the Lexington Gala to raise funds for a local hospital.[18] She also served on the Lexington Medical Foundation, Lexington County Sheriff's Foundation, and West Metro Republican Women.[19] She was the president of the South Carolina Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners, and was chair for the 2006 Friends of Scouting Leadership Division campaign.[20]

I don't have a problem with wet markets in general - we have them in the U.S.

I do have a problem with some of the weird-ass shit that they sell in China.

Insider trading laws don't apply to congress critters. How convenient.

Where is she getting this shit from? If the hospitals were in crisis don't you think every MSM NPA would be on-site reporting it?

Plotting the actual infection curves (infected, deaths) when you consider:

  • There were no or few tests at the start of the infection
  • Initially, tests were only used only used on those with advanced symptoms (and celebrities)
  • Those who are asymptomatic will never get tested

So, the raw results are distorted. I assume that statisticians will be able to correct for these factors somehow, but we probably won't really know the results until the virus cycle has passed.

I can't see how the government could justify a bail-out for cruise lines, casinos, or any other non-essential industries. I can see airlines - they can be considered essential - but I'm pretty pissed at them too.

You can take some satisfaction in knowing that the cruise lines are going to get hammered pretty hard over this virus scare. Personally, I can't imagine why anyone would want on a cruise - trapped onboard with who-knows-what.

Another example of our President showing great leadership by thinking outside the box.

Carnival Corporation is offering the U.S. government its cruise ships to use as hospitals for non-COVID-19 patients in an effort to free up space in land-based hospitals for those suffering from the disease.

President Donald Trump said he spoke with Carnival Corp. chairman Micky Arison Thursday morning about the possibility of using the cruise company’s ships as part of the federal COVID-19 pandemic response.

This title was probably written before the press briefing.

I will not even bother reading the article. However, I would wager that it doesn't contain any real constructive criticism, i.e. "He is doing 'X'. He should be doing 'Y'."

This is actually having the reverse effect. Trump is getting to display to the world how well he can lead during a crisis.

Actually, if it helps suppress the foreign propaganda machine that is trying to undermine Trump, then the answer is YES.
