If your servers were seized, they would have your database as well, and passwords would work. I would suggest a dead hand type mechanism. Something buried in the code, such that if everything was seized, and you were put under a gag order not to say anything, a ticking clock would fire off and shut it down or something. You wouldn't be violating anything, since they took control of what was there.

I don't think the Chinese could be keeping it a secret since it's the CIA that directly owns the media. China has their influence, but the CIA has had the media locked up for decades. They would have to be keeping it under wraps. But why? If Trump is making a move, it would be a direct attack on the spooks. I do not see a scenario where they don't try to get ahead of it using the media. I could be wrong, but I just can't see how it happens.
I just have a hard time believing there wouldn't be more public information. The kind of moves this would take cannot be hidden. If people are already rolling over, you would see the press preparing the sheep. They'd either be talking about a looming fascist dictatorship, or coming up with cover excuses for them.
