thereby devaluing a college degree. College should be the exception, not the rule. The reason "higher education" is supposed to be so prestigious is because not everyone can get there - not just academically but also because of price. College isnt supposed to be something everyone does. Time was it was your way of standing out in the crowd when applying to jobs. Everyone else had a high school diploma but you had an edge with a college degree. Now depending on the field it's no longer college degrees that set you apart, you have to go for a Master's (if that doesn't make you over-qualified for the job now)

It would need something like a 2/3 in both houses probably but it still could happen given how things are now

So what would you like us to do about it here then?

no probably the same old shit of showing up to your state house and going "rabble rabble", telling people to invest 10s of 1000s of dollars and run for local office and telling people to "pick up and move to a red state", or "homeschool". They'll be coming for all that next

fake news? So the very real effects of what's going to happen if Chauvin walks are "fake news astroturf?"

not saying they won't riot regardless but still. Let the cities burn and just keep it contained.

I'm in what I suppose you could consider "suburban" - about 10 mile radius west of Newark NJ... it's a nice quiet area, we currently live in an apartment but we're moving to the "rural" areas northwest of here. To me, "rural" is bordering on PA, or the midwest where your closest neighbor is a half mile away or more...Always hated when where I grew up in western Morris County it was considered "rural". it's not suburban by any means but rural just mean farm/"flyover" country to me

You have a right to protest. You do NOT have a right to "Rage, riot or commit arson"

The NLG needs to be destroyed along with any organization providing bail for "protesters"

Don't forget the Daily Show and Colbert Report. They are supposed to be "comedy" but people actually think of those shows as real news

organizing how?

don't say "show up en masse at your local state capitol
don't say "run for local office"
don't say "hOmEsCHoOL"
don't say something you know people have neither the time, money or ability to do in the numbers we need to have any real effect.

  • slow suffocation (think being in a cramped space with no air holes. just because air can flow through the mask material when you breathe doesn't mean you're getting enough oxygen)
  • you are trapping a quantity of CO2 between your face and the mask that does not just all push through the material. A fair quantity of that is re-inhaled further reducing the amount of free oxygen you take in. CO2 is a poison waste product.
  • facial rashes due to long term use, sweat trapped and soaking into the material as well as allergens trapped by the material (spare me the sob stories of nurses and "front line workers" who say they have to wear masks all day on their shifts, I don't care).
  • reduced oxygen levels cause everything from decreased brain function to nerve damage
  • oral bacteria that would either normally be swallowed to the digestive tract or exhaled into the free air is now trapped in the mask material to be inhaled directly to the lungs, excess of which can cause pneumonia and lung infections - this is likely what most of the people who went to the hospital, got put on ventilators and died later, actually died from.

eh, they'll give up as soon as they find out it wasn't a white guy in a MAGA hat with an AK screaming something about "making america great"

and if he had been wearing a mask, his oxygen level would have been in the 80s at most

still wondering how being inside the Capitol as a citizen is a crime. Your taxes pay for that building, it's you're RIGHT to visit
