You believe because you desire to. Or you disbelieve because you desire to. I believe in God because it’s the simplest metaphysical explanation to account for all reality. My desire is for discovery. Why are you a skeptic?

Any type of bottom/up approach to knowledge (eg foundationalism starting from necessary assumptions, gathering evidence, data IOW scientific method) will yield nonsense to the question of God. It’s literally “impossible” to prove a metaphysic with data. It’s the very difference between science and philosophy. The only way for a conversion is through faith. Faith is the foundation of metaphysical belief. If you’re a skeptic, you’re sitting this one out.

Let’s talk about “good”, I don’t want to argue the necessity of the PO not the format.

Talk about good (value) perfection and judgment.

Theology is a top/down approach to knowledge. You’re looking for “proof”, that’s bottom up. That’s what I meant about sitting on the sidelines. There’s no possibility of being converted without taking a leap of faith. You can limit your assumptions, though. Keep them simple.

Hard/soft atheism. Soft atheism is akin to sitting on the sidelines reminding everyone of their epistemological duty. You’re not really in the discussion.

Go ahead and present your argument. I’ve studied theology (recreational) for well over 20 years.

The struggle against literalism. I’m the opposite. Didn’t have a strict religious upbringing and I’m finding spiritual truths in everything. The symbolism of Christianity is as real as real gets. A foundation of Western thought. Culture. Music.
