Tourism has been shut down for 6 months now, we have been in nearly complete isolation ...which is amazing for the beaches and the environment. BUT there are people protesting planes landing. If tourism ever returns, there will be demonstrations against it. Meanwhile, over 20% unemployment (Maui highest in USA) and no fallback plan. It's a very sticky situation.
