You are no longer useful to the regime and a source of possible dissent.

It is time for your removal now.

No direct access to the DB or host? Damn thats a tough one.

Fair enough. I saw the adamcast interview yesterday and figured since the domain still worked he wasn't being an ass, just had principles that differed. Once I saw the change and confirmed it from 2 sources I realized I was wrong.

I'm a little like Trump: I like to believe the best in people, but once you betray me you are fucking dead to me.

I know. I was defending him while he left it pointing at the site's servers. He wasnt being a dick, he just had a different point of view.

Now? Now hes a dick.

If its any kind of SQL (or most kinds of nosql) a simple update statement is all thats needed. Depends on how exactly they structure things, but theres only so many ways to build a site backend and it shouldnt be that hard.

Dude should have just let them transition peacefully. WTF does he gain by being a dick on the way out?

tdavis25 11 points ago +13 / -2

Someone with access to the backend database would have to edit those posts. not sure if u/doggos has that access (or another admin).

It resolves to 127.0.0.1, which is the loopback IP.

TBH of all the things they could have changed it to, thats 100% benign.

Makes me think the dude is an asshole now though. I defended him in other threads and regret that now.

What I recall happening is that u/Shaowman3001 was top mod after reddit removed HottieForTrump for "violent threats" when she started replying to people threatening her life that she had a gun so go for it. There may or may not have been 1-2 more mods before u/Shadowman3001 took over, but IIRC they didnt have it for long

Subsequently Reddit tool all of u/shadowman3001's mod abilities away, leaving the dom with a top-mod who couldnt do anything...not even remove himself. The "effective" top-mod became the number 2 mod (whos name I dont recall) that had control of the discord server and a few other subs (i thiiiiink r/the_congress or r/Trump...not sure). That mod and the #3 and #4 mods wanted to try to make peace with Reddit as they viewed staying on that platform to be the primary thing...no matter what...through the election. Eventually they agreed to let u/ivaginaryfrend take over the #2 role in exchange for...something (I dont recall exactly what it was but I think it was getting rid of some mods reddit considered "problematic")

The moment u/ivaginaryfriend got the #2 slot she kicked all 3 out.

Thats when TDW was announced and the migration to TDW started.

Depends on if its compiled before being put on the host. Even if its PHP/javascript/etc they make compilers that obfuscate the code to a point its unreadable by humans (remove all whitespace, hash variable and function names, etc).

ETA: on inspection, it doesnt look like they are using that kind of obfuscation. Not sure what the old mod was so upset about...

tdavis25 2 points ago +2 / -0

Why does one person have sole control of the code for the site?

https://youtu.be/SJCugtAd6pg?t=5348

Actually...on inspection it doesnt look like the sites javascript is obfuscated. Unless theres some sort of compiled backend to the site (???) not sure what the old mod was on about.

I read the WSJ article and watched the interview with Jody on Adamcast irl.

He doesnt come across as a "rouge individual". He comes across as a patriot who had some philosophical differences. He got backed into a corner by the MSM and had to either get drug through the mud by those assholes or do his best to defend himself.

Frankly, IMO the mod team let him down by pushing him out. He was, frankly, rather magnanimous about the whole thing in the long-form interview. Yeah, the MSM made it sound like he was throwing yall under the bus. NO FUCKING SHIT? They are lying like they always do.

He did an interview: https://youtu.be/SJCugtAd6pg

He doesnt come across as an asshole. He comes across as a patriot who has the best interest of TDW in mind while trying to also protect his family.

Nah, you can fuck yourself. The left eats their own...were better than that.

3

Really? Well thats just fucking terrible. Cmon u/doggos, you gotta be better than that.

tdavis25 11 points ago +13 / -2

He was not compromised, he had a differing opinion about how to handle the public image of the site and decided to leave. Interview he did (and part of why he left): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJCugtAd6pg

Why he left starts around 58 min.

He also did an interview with WSJ, where he was treated shockingly fair: https://www.wsj.com/articles/pro-trump-discussion-board-faces-possible-shutdown-over-violent-racist-posts-11610819176

IMO both are power-playing, no cooperating. The programmer is being selfish AF and should cooperatively share the code the site relies on. The former admin is being selfish AF and should have had the domain jointly owned.

The admin who left TDW with the domain name did an interview with Adam Crigler. He talks about what happened with the "old mods" at about 8:30 here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJCugtAd6pg

I would add to this:

The former mod did an interview with Adam Crigler and in that interview he stated that he was willing to turn the domain over, but that his one condition for that was that the codebase be released to the whole admin team. Supposedly it was being held by a foreigner who was doing all the coding.

Is there any validity to those statements? If not, then who owns the codebase to the site? Could it be made open-source? Im sure we have plenty of technical talent here on TDW that could help clean things up and take the load off the admin team.

ETA: link to interview - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SJCugtAd6pg

My undersanding of the reasoning for the ex-mod not handing over the domain is that the codebase of TDW is held by a foreign entity. He stated that was his only objection to turning it over (that the code base be jointly held by US patriots and not a sole foreigner).

Can you comment on that claim at all?

Got the default RHEL 404 page and had a mini heart-attack. Well done u/doggos!!

If evidence was presented, and it was clear and compelling, and the vote got anywhere near close...Trump would have had a much better hand at going the IA route.

But it wasnt, and the narrative Trump needed got flipped from "evil uniparty stole your votes" to "Trump supporters impede the constitutional process" (I said narrative, not reality).

I dont think Trump expected the Uniparty to plan a siege of their own house.

This. Make this eat their own bullshit. Rub their nose in it. Force them to acknowledge their failures.

They will either grow from the experience or become broken people.
