This is what I've been telling people for years. AWS and others' game is to get you locked into their proprietary stack of services. This is why when I built on the cloud I built it all legacy-style on EC2 with nightly backups to an on-site server so we can be running in very short order if anything should happen. Supposedly Parler did the same? I guess we will see how portable their stuff really is.
Fuck these cowards. DC has turned into the prize they win if they sell enough of their soul to make it to the top and these turds don't even have the decency to stand up and face the devil when he comes calling for his due.
I don't want to generalize but there is a wide swath of people who really fucked us with their submission to authority complex and unhealthy lack of skepticism, trusting anyone who would come on the nightly news with nicely parted hair and eating up every word they say. Bless my mother, and she's a die-hard Trump supporter, but she has turned over such a large part of her social/family connections, photos and the like to FB, and can't give it up. Even after explaining what a low-down POS zuck is, people still treat FB like a highly-regulated utility and just turn it all over to them.
I figured AWS would be the last to take a political stance like this. They're so low-level and ubiquitous I just didn't think they really cared. Not to mention the vast amount of spammers/scammers who get by with using their services and dirtying up the IP blocks. If AWS will kick a legal site, nobody is really safe in the cloud. Parler is probably going to need to go to bare metal servers or build their own private cloud.
