You want to be on the jury because you want the police officer to get off. You cannot possibly have all the facts because the evidentiary record has not even been established yet. Yet, you have pre-judged the police officer to be innocent. Hence the term, prejudiced. That is exactly why you do not belong on this jury. Also, you know jail and prison are different things, right? People with DUIs go to jail. Any misdemeanor offense=jail. Are you implying that any misdemeanor arrestee or convict that escapes jail, that the police should have free rein to open fire on them?
The article doesn't have the facts. That's why I said if that person was unarmed, you can't just shoot them as they flee. You'd have to know this person to be extremely violent, maybe a former super max inmate, to be able to shoot them unarmed and fleeing.
Notice I said if they were running away UNARMED. Being armed combined with fleeing from criminal activity creates the reasonable belief that the person fleeing is a danger to your life or a threat to someone else's.
I'm just going to go ahead and say this as a new lawyer: you are exactly the person that should not be on a jury. Your impartiality is so clear on its face, I didn't need to read the article. However, I did. And let me explain something to you. You can't shoot someone that's fleeing unless you believe they are an imminent threat to your life(how? they're fleeing YOU) or may cause someone great bodily harm. The article mentions they don't even know why the police began shooting. IF(with emphasis) the man was simply running away unarmed, a depraved heart murder charge is entirely appropriate. What that cop did would be nothing more than an extrajudicial killing the redcoats would be proud of. I am beyond sick of trigger happy police. These are the rotten apples that need to be weeded out of police forces. The police are not your friend and they owe you no duty of care. Support them when they do what is right and call them out when they do wrong just like any other government agency.
Just waiting for that dumb bitch from bed bath and beyond to be fired too.
I'm well aware of that. I served under Obama first.
My point is that Trump did not chose a good SECDEF, which leads me to believe he wouldn't be able to chose good officers to replace our current flag officers. And my last statement was the solution I'm recommending. Relieve all of them and force them to retire. They're destroying the military with their PC bullshit. And where do you see me "blaming him for everything?" Try being objective every once in a while. The man isn't flawless. I'm tired of serving in this PC environment where I'm now apparently a white supremacist. He has the power to change this and he should.
I'll say it again. Trump has been too soft with the military. He should have known better that these flag officers were worthless liberals. Every single one of the flag officers should have been relieved and replaced with who he wanted in there. Then again, he also selected Mattis and Mattis is a disgrace.
you need to get a carry permit and a handgun. I never leave home without it.
we need military and GunDeals subwins. That's mostly what I go on reddit for at this point.
Wait, I thought he'd be arrested if he stepped foot in Michigan. . . lol.
I’m still playing through it. The original actually had cut scenes that added to the story. This one I have to sit through fucking Ellie playing a shitty rendition of AHA’s take on me. Like wtf. Just got to the part where Dina says she’s pregnant. Was fully expecting a rant from Ellie about how they’d just abort it. Glad it never came but the game is not leaving a good impression on me so far. And I already found out about that Abby thing. Definitely dreading that shit.
This is dumb as fuck. Private stores can kick you out for practically anything they want. The forced wearing of a mask by government and its officials is what people should have an issue with; AKA Gov. Newsom.
I'm here fellow pede. Leadership is largely cucked, however. I'm thinking I might have to make this a career and change things if I ever get high enough in the chain.
Seriously. I had a field op last winter in quantico and it got down to 12° one night. Our water sources even froze. These dudes will be fine.
A shotgun for sure. For a handgun, maybe start with something like a Ruger security 9 or one of the many glocks out there.
Thanks man. I had it custom made from mysoutherntactical.
They donated close to half a million dollars to Trump. People are bitching about boycotting them.
Can confirm. Just passed the bar exam lol. These attorneys won't be attorneys for long hopefully.
I too like LCPs.
The case I cited and linked you went over the compelling governmental interest standard and made it clear where that stops. And as you should know, rules must further law. I.E.: the state's rules can't run afoul of the First Amendment.
"Where the personal nexus between professional and client does not exist, and a speaker does not purport to be exercising judgment on behalf of any particular individual with whose circumstances he is directly acquainted, government regulation ceases to function as legitimate regulation of professional practice with only incidental impact on speech; it becomes regulation of speaking or publishing as such, subject to the First Amendment’s command that “Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.”"
Lawyer and attorney are different words for a reason. I won't need to be calling the state ethics hotline either since I'm swearing in shortly and don't need to worry about the nuances of this rule.
What rules? Model rules? State rules? Because this case law, speaking broadly of professional licenses, says something very different to what you're claiming. Those restrictions of speech are ". . . confined to occupational- related speech made to individual clients." “There is a difference, for First Amendment purposes, between . . . professionals’ speech to the public at large versus their direct, personalized speech with clients.”
You’re thinking of attorney. All attorneys are lawyers, but not all lawyers are attorneys. Source: just passed my bar exam and I’m pending licensure in a jurisdiction.
You don't even realize you've just proven my point. They don't know, which is why they can't shoot them. Anybody MUST know there is an imminent threat of death or serious bodily injury to either their person or someone else's. The standard does not change just because you're a police officer.
