Good news from the UK everyone.

Out of the 634 reported eye disorders from people who were administered the vaccine, only 7 went totally blind. And guess what - 2 of them recovered their sight!

"Crisis" is a long time framing tactic. It implies the use of maximum resources to "avert".

So, an existential crisis, of infinite size, for which we have already passed the point of no return .... but taxes will solve it.

There, will, be, blood.

A few thousand in each one.

They come with the option to consolidate but your next employer has to comply.

I'm a job hopper so I'm collecting them :)

Yeah, that's a puzzle. Maybe their strat is trolley based and/or charming past the cashier.

The way to steal stuff at these checkouts is find something that weighs the same (A) as the thing you want to steal (B). Scan A and put B on the output scale.

Or plan ahead and have a replacement barcode of A you can stick over B's label while walking round the store. If it's expensive booze, scan some beer to trigger the age check.

I did mean $15 but your point is valid, that's why I said "just for wages".

I would say 30% more per employee for ancillary costs of employment - recruitment training - it's a high turnover position.

Then you need something like 1 supervisor per 10 people, extra managers for supervisors etc.

HR needs to monitor regulatory compliance etc. which is more cost.

etc. etc.

We have that here already. You have a hand held scanner and scan the items as you put them in the cart and then leave, it is auto charged.

Scan and Go

Walmart introduced it in the US but it's not very popular with shoppers

Imagine telling someone from 1900 that you had to walk around the store and pick up the goods yourself, let alone run them through the cash register!

But we have Click & Collect here. Just choose online and then go collect the items later.

A self-checkout setup with four machines costs $125,000 versus just $1,500 for four traditional registers. 10 hours per day x 4 = $1200 per day in just wages (EDIT $600, doh!) So it pays for itself in 105 days.( 210 days) https://www.simplr.ai/retail-podcast/self-checkout-increases-theft-risk

They also increase store theft, and the retailers still come out ahead

Shoplifting accounts for nearly 4% of inventory for retailers with self-checkout, compared to just 1.5% for traditional checkout, according to a report. What’s more, in a recent review of shoplifting offenders, 72% said that self-checkout made theft easy to very easy. Only 8% answered it made shoplifting more difficult.

When the children go back to grandma, do they other two now get to demand $20? That's where we are headed.

You two lemonade sellers have enough already
