Not entirely true. Even in the 90s, for example, CNN was referred to by guys in the US military (and maybe others as well) as either the "Communist News Network" or the "Clinton News Network". And while that may not seem impressive, it was before the social media days, and so was just something that spread by word-of-mouth and observation, and possibly Rush Limbaugh.
I was a teenager in the 80's. You have no idea how much better it was.

One of the things that struck me back when I was first watching those videos on Youtube was this:
China is one of the most oppressive regimes out there, partly because of their advanced use of technology in that oppression (e.g. social scores, mandatory smart phones). They are also known to have a pretty serious firewall between them and the internet.
So how would these "homemade" videos get out from regular Chinese people on to YouTube, unless the CCP wanted them to? The people being welded into their apartments? That video was shot from OUTSIDE the apartment, over the shoulders of the officers doing the welding. You think some regular Chinese citizen would be able to take the video, much less post it on YouTube?
All that stuff was put out onto the internet with CCP's blessing. If it had their blessing, then it had a purpose.

I can't say what will happen for sure, but I can tell you that all these things you list were hated by conservatives and often protested, but never instigated actual violent resistance because there was always the hope of rectification through the system. In the end, everyone believed that, if they just got the right people elected, things would be fixed and bad people would go to jail.
If this election is stolen right in front of everyone, then that last grain of hope for the system to work is gone. The only choice left would be complete submission or fight.

I have absolutely been keeping it in the context of the conversation. Military personnel are bound by the UCMJ to disobey unlawful orders FOR A REASON. It is ridiculous to think we should excuse oppressive or illegal conduct on the part of any sworn police officer just because his superiors gave the order.
Here's what people need to understand, especially those ready for war: war is ugly. It is the ugliest of all things and nobody's hands will be clean in the end. WHen the gloves come off for real, all the old rules of civility and propriety will take a back seat to survival and victory.
