in my city, the biggest non-government and non-state source of income comes from real estate tax. Add property tax into the mix. The biggest cash outflow? Public schooling. Renters that don't think that they are paying real estate tax are paying it indirectly through rent as their landlords have to pay this real estate tax.
I would not be surprised if this is similar in other cities across the country. A big chunk of this money feeds the bureaucracy, teachers union, etc.
The U.S. military as a population is more conservative than the general public. We have to base our decisions on the analysis of the facts. No time for emotional lines of reasoning in our profession. This tends to make most conservative. You'll also find more hostility towards the Democrats from the military ranks than you would from the non military population.
I anticipate that among the old military who are still in, people are planning to retire rather than serve Beijing Biden and Harris. Out of those that remain, expect the corruption to accelerate exponentially. The old military "died" a long time ago and became corrupted. That corruption accelerated under Obama, and will once again accelerate under the Biden Regime.
The higher the corruption, the lower the discipline. The lower the discipline, the lower the troop moral, the more disciplinary issues arise, and the greater the chances of losing a war. This election theft screwed us more than people could imagine.

We kept a core of regular military after the American Revolution to deal with the Native Americans that attacked. Then we had the regular military as the fighting backbone during the War of 1812. The Civil War? The regular military split, so both sides had regular military.
Key... Must have the regular military on your side. The military has command and control from tactical to strategic levels, supporting logistics, coordinating abilities (arms, personnel, etc.).
Without that, civilians would be at a disadvantage right from the start. Most who have not had military training would abandon the battlefield... Especially when people get killed in large numbers.

They've been doing this for decades. My dad was a Vietnam Veteran, and he had to deal with decades "negative caricature" in the hands of the less knowledgeable because the media and their allies bad mouthed the troops with baseless accusations and lies. That didn't stop them from fighting back through the battlefield of ideas... And they did not have then what we have today.
