I know! Do not take it like I do not know that he hasn't been trying.

I guess it just hit home that people are dying and losing everything and the POTUS has to have permission to be protect American citizens?

This isn't just helping with building better roads.. this is real LIVES.

If you knew that your child was living in a place that would get looted from riots and armed people, would you only scream to ask permission? Or would you do more?

Trust me I understand the "politics"... it just frustrates me because I know I want more but too scared and weak to do more.

For me his questions really drag on. He can ask the question with less words.

For having POTUS time, this show is not really utilizing their time really well.

Let Trump talk... not play long clips and long questions.

Surgical masks are there just in case to protect in case the surgeon and those in the surgical room have some pathogen that can lead to infection right? It is a precaution?

I guess the point is that I do not mind the precaution at essential businesses but there is no reason for that at non-essential ones.

I wrote this to someone else...

Throw a million ping pong balls against one fishing line and some will inevitably not get through. This is what I wanted scientists to research (does that one fishing line decrease the chance in any way of infection and by how much?)

If your data shows 18%, your next question should be if that 18% matters in terms of infection rate. If data shows that only 50% is needed for 100% infection rate, then 18% would not matter.

My only question, which I have not been able to find is if blocking 1-3% of particulates even matter when it comes to infection rates?

Personally, I would wear it even if it blocks it 99.9% at an essential establishment. However, if that 1-3% is practically ineffective at stopping an infection, then the case could be made "masks" are useless.

I understand and agree with you. My only distinction is between essential vs non-essential.

Throw a million ping pong balls against one fishing line and some will inevitably not get through. This is what I wanted scientists to research (does that one fishing line decrease the chance in any way of infection and by how much?)

Maybe I have too much heart, but even if that was 0.001 % of infection I would not mind wearing a mask for essential places for the people that "believe" in masks. However, those people that "believe" in masks have no reason to be going to gyms and bars, so let the people do what they want and OPEN THEM UP so that people that CHOOSE to go there are able too.

Do you know how much those cloth masks block of coronavirus particles?

Do you think why there are even N95 masks or surgical masks, if a simple cloth mask could protect against viruses/germs?

You seem the most informed so far. The numbers you put up, are mostly in line with what I have been reading as well.

Masks are better than no masks, but my view point is that there is no reason to force it on non-essential businesses and people, especially if hospitals are able to meet the needs of patients.

I do not think it is perfect. Data shows that it has to be N95 to even be reliable even to stop.

However, I think of it this way. If without a mask if 100% gets through, just something blocking the path even stops 99.9% then it does work in a way. So let the people that want to wear one, wear it.

However, private business and people should be free to go to any non-essential place without it.

Well said, ICU rates are always high with 80%+ even before COVID.

My only thought is that a mask does help rather than not... but no need to mandate it for private businesses.

We do not mandate masks for the common flu, we still sell cigarettes and alcohol, so why are we doing it here.

I don't know if you saw my comment to nothomo, but I stated that I do not want the government to have the power to mandate masks and close businesses especially as COVID cases become more like the the seasonal flu.

However, it is not just about the 99% survival rate. It is ALSO about if the hospitals are able to handle that in their ER/ICU, which they are at this point.

So there is no point that lock down and closures should be necessary. But to be cautious even if masks are mandatory for supermarkets, hospitals, etc, there is no reason to make masks and especially closing of NON-essential places such as restaurants, bars, gyms, etc.

I agree in that masks do work. Having something cover your breathing orifices is curtaining going to block and lessen the chance, that much is obvious.

However, the science is how much it actually helps to block? Does it have to be N95? If even then does it get through? If it has to be N95 what is the point of other masks?

By your logic, it seems that government should mandate and close businesses for flu season, which is not the power I want government to have.
