I'm a lawyer. SCOTUS should have taken the Texas case. I tend to believe that the Robert's screaming episode probably happened. SCOTUS basically said, there was no cause of action between the States when one State is disenfranchised by the illegal conduct of another State in violation of the electors clause. That's like saying Mississippi can't sue Arkansas for dumping raw sewage into the river. When SCOTUS declined, the Texas quip about - maybe Texas should form a compact with the States that want to follow the law - is perfectly on point. Indeed, the compact that all will abide by the electors clause was indeed the ratification of the Constitution itself. This is one of the most divisive decisions since Dred Scott.
