As someone who grew up in Alabama and has relatives in Georgia this does not add up one bit. Both states are very similar culturally and demographically.
If Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, and Florida are all deep red there is no way in hell Georgia is that culturally far apart from the rest of the South. I call shenanigans.
