Because McConnell knows demotards will never vote in support of a bill with these amendments, just as they won’t for bills with abortion or Obamacare repeal poison pills added on. He also knows establishment republicans will also now vote no on this, thus the bill will fail. If McConnell supported the $2000 checks, it would be a single piece of legislation without amendments and be brought to the floor of the senate. He’s also doing this because he’s against section 230 repeal and the committee creation, so by tying these together, they won’t be passed either.

Iirc the ideal provider:patient ratio is 1:2 to 1:4, meaning one nurse or physician is responsible for 2 to 4 patients at any given time. This ratio is many times double this, leading to terrible care, misdiagnoses, and greatly increases the chances of malpractice.
