This is why we all must invite him into our lives, and why he can only affect us in proportion to our belief that he is affecting us. It’s chicken/egg for those who require evidence, but forcing you to see His face would be tantamount to enslaving you. Jesus knocks but we open the door.
I was an atheist all my life, and a terrible trauma sent me to oblivion for a decade. At the end of my rope, I emptied myself of everything I thought I knew about God and began to ‘pretend’ He was real. These acts began to transform me and I gained necessary wisdom and perspective. A few years later, I finally made contact with the Spirit and my entire life began to transform. Broke addictions, lost weight, got married, found loving friends.
God is real. The way to Him can be discovered without Jesus. Jesus makes it much easier. As people ourselves, we understand entities better when we imagine them as people.

If you felt up for it, you could try interacting with the Spirit to understand more about why you are curious about Elijah.
As I would pray it: I'd calm my mind and say, "if it be your will Lord, show me why I have interest in Elijah. What do I seek?" Then I'd calm my mind again and listen to the background of my thoughts. Intuitive / seemingly random wisdom is always flowing through the mind. Through my experience, I have sensed that a heartfelt prayer gives God a chance to redirect this thoughtful energy. Epiphanies can lay within these moments. Don't let your memes be dreams.
