Makes me want to start my own group, I'll call it BAAA

Binging Alcoholics Against Alcoholism.

Maybe I stated it poorly beforehand, but part of that maintaining good order and discipline is being the one in control of the class and setting the rules and boundaries. So, the responsibility would be limited to try and prevent situations from escalating in that way, not a responsibility for the outcome (I assume) of the teacher being physically attacked.

I agree with you that outcomes like this are a clear demonstration of the degradation of society as a whole.

The extent the teacher is responsible is to do their best to maintain good order and discipline, not for the student thinking it was appropriate to start Wilding out in class.

I'd blame the parents before the teacher in that type of circumstance, in this case the kid should be expelled and have cops called, clearly nothing the school can do will stop them from becoming criminals anyway.

Damn... teachers should push dealingnwoth that type off shit off to the administration or otherwise escalate matters appropriately. It doesn't do any favors to the rest of the class to try and accommodate.

Thanks, that was the one and I also assumed that it was watered down.

That was where my point was getting, a kid that far gone has no place in a school where they are a clear risk to the safety of the other students and staff to that degree.

That's always the first question is what the parents are doing wrong, and I agree that it would be better to have them go in a military school/camp until they demonstrate some discipline or they will just be a problem for police to deal with sooner or later.

Someone had to highlight the hypocrisy.

Would almost be as good to have the top caption of "normal" on the left and "racist" on the right to make it even more obvious to reddit tier normies.

Frankly, I was aware of schools that were worse off, but even at those there was still a greater level of control by teachers over their classrooms.

Shit, I remember that move that made that song "gangsters paradise" hit radios for about 6 months... and even in that fiction there was nothing that flagrant.

This is a reddit tier response; nebulous attacks with appeals to a lack of knowledge while offering no substance.

This is like telling me that the only means of control is through violence.

It's a denial of reality to imply that this type of behavior, on both sides, is in any way acceptable in a school environment.

I graduated in 2000, perhaps that I was in a good school/district, the bigger issue in the school I went was that from when I was a student to the 10 year reunion, the "special ed" section went from a classroom to a wing of the school.

When I was in school, I knew a small number of kids that went to juvie where they continued schooling to their grade level.

IMO, this type of behavior in a student should have the parents held responsible... maybe kids like that need to be in a militarized setting.

Maybe it's easy for me to comment as an outsider to the institution, but other kids will see this person get away with beating up a teacher with no repercussions and will only think that they can do the same.... these aren't students that will be prepared for anything but a life in prison.

Worse, any students that MIGHT have excelled will also lose out because of shit like this.

Shit like this is already beyond the "simple solutions".

Thanks for the elaborate response.

It's quite the statement of just how far degraded society as a whole has gone (I'd say the school system but there's not that kind of degradation in schools in a vacuum).

In my time, teachers were quite firm in boundaries, there would be little to no tolerance for behavior that could lead to that kind of outcome. The students understood there were potentially consequences for actions.

They really dropped the talk of monkeypox when kids and dogs started getting it......

Ahh... That's why so many downvotes.

I maintain that it still is a demonstration that the teacher lacked control over the class, when I was in school no teacher would ever tolerate a fraction of that type of escalation before sending people to the principal or give detention time.

The teacher is supposed to be the adult in the room.

And NOT pointing them out is racist too.

More seriously though, it's funny because the joke used to be how white women had flat butts, and now they are the ones with "big butts" (or maybe not just farcically obese).

Lmao at big butts being racist... pretty sure that was a black guy who sang that song.

Why would the teacher engage in a fight to start?

Shows she lacks control overall... but also the lack of respect for authority. Maybe I'm just old where I've had to deal with getting discipline that could be administered by any passerby.

Maybe it was because my parents were just over broke, but I never had any real perks beyond clothes and food from my parents after around 12.

When I was engaged to my wife where I was talking to one of her uncles that was trying to get his kids as motivated to work and contribute while at their lakehouse. He didn't like the answer that it was something that was necessary for me because I wouldn't get anything otherwise and felt spoiled to have access to the lake and figured it was a minimum to show appreciation.

I dunno, whatever skills a "tiktok star" brings to the table... ability to hold a camera at least.

3
user2827 3 points ago +3 / -0

The crazy part of that is if they still have the batteries in them is a serious risk just sitting there over time.

user2827 3 points ago +3 / -0

Does "tiktok star" even come with a paycheck?

Remember though, the "AI" in those is simply to control the motors for balance and how to follow the instructions to the destination, they are not autonomous and more closely resemble advanced remote controlled cars.

And yes, it can be defeated in many ways, but if you see one of those walking around there's going to be a team somewhere "nearby" controlling it.

The concept of one being an NPC is disconnected from their intelligence because the issue is one of agency. There are some, arguably more who are highly intelligent, yet are only capable of critical thought processes in the realm of their expertise.

"Absolutely a story that we don't want to be bringing you." Interesting phrasing.

This isn't just an LA thing; when everything was locked down in my city, the homeless druggies effectively took over the train lines to the point where even the police (when confronted) accept that they don't want any part in trying to clean it up for those that don't have their own vehicles.
