I talked to someone today and he also mentioned this (I live in Germany), didn't know it too. Germany was actually pretty OK handling COVID, not too much rules / restrictions compared to e.g. SPAIN or FRANCE we had no curfews etc. I'll have to check what's going on, I generally wear my mask where I have to but try not to be too much involved with the whole COVID situation.
