Well, Technically speaking a slightly dirty air filter is more efficient and traps more particles than a brand new one, so rub your mask in the dirt before you put it on for maximum protection. (Oh and don't wash it, that makes it worse)

Considering that a fair amount of your breath is directed out the sides of your mask, wouldn't it be more harmful to sit next to someone wearing a mask than sitting next to someone without one who is exhaling mostly forward?
Mary Kay (At least they used to be when my wife sold their product years ago) are the biggest misandrists I have ever seen. Their whole agenda was "you don't need a man" and "what would Mary Kay do". She quit when one of her team got engaged and everyone started ripping her apart for it like she was destroying their entire movement.
