  • "Huber had a skateboard in his right hand and used it to “make contact” with Rittenhouse’s left shoulder as they struggled for control of the gun."

so, whacking someone with a skateboard is "making contact"

Two of the three I saw were written by the same person, that account had previous post history. The other one was that account's one and only post.

My favorite is:

"Be honest, have you started lesson planning yet"?

Every single answer is no, and some "fuck no"

Maybe we need to get CNN to fact check it.

I actually have to defend this kind of logical reasoning. It is the way I have been doing math in my head for years. I know that this particular problem is ridiculous, but this way of solving is not for simple problems like this one. It is only practice for larger more complicated ones. Take 36 + 49 for example, while not the most difficult math problem, it would be nice to be able to solve it without a note pad or calculator. Imagine solving using both of these methods without writing anything down.

1st method:

9 + 6 = 15, carry the 1, leave the 5

3 + 4 + 1 = 8

solution = 85

2nd method

subtract 1 from 36 then add 1 to 49

new problem: 35 + 50

3 + 5 = 8

5 + 0 = 5

solution = 85

You probably do this without realizing, if you see a product for sale for 99 cents and you want to buy 3 you might say it's about $3.00. What you are really doing is adding 1 cent to each and multiplying times 3 for a good estimate. It happens automatically without extra thought. If you wanted an exact answer you would simply subtract the 3 cents you added to round the price up and come up with $2.97. With practice this becomes natural and you just kind of skip all of the steps.

I don't know much about the rest of common core but I do think math "tricks" like this one are very useful

edit: formating

I have always said I will be ready for communism when all carts are always returned (without homeless people collecting Aldi carts for quarters). I have no fear of that day ever coming to pass.

Go to that museum's website, then search for the word 'black' check out the article headlines. Then do the same with the word 'white".

Maybe they hope that black people will see this and think 'well, I don't want to be like whitey' and do the opposite.
