In college when I found out how the monetary system worked in one of my economics classes. It seemed super strange to me that money was created through the process of deposits and loans, but I couldn't quite articulate why (being my fist economics class). A few months later I stumbled upon a conspiracy documentary called Zeitgeist. It described the money creation process exactly how I learned it, but it went further in describing why it was set up that way, and what the ramifications of a fiat monetary system mean. That's when I realized the reality we're sold in the public school system is a fabrication, and things aren't always what they seem (i.e. well-intentioned). I went from an Obama supporter to Ron Paul supporter almost overnight.
