A machine falsely flagged ballots for adjudication where a human decides what the voter meant with a mouse click and it reprints a new ballot and they destroy the original ballot and there is no audit trail of who changed and what they changed.
A machine just helped but a criminal human changed the vote. Also this method survives both audits and recounts, assuming everyone is OK with 80+% of ballots in some cases require adjudication.
Just to play a game of "what if" but seriously how would the media be reacting if Trump was doing this? This looks to be some scary shit to me. When you need to call what appears to be marshal law to install your "leader" who appears to have won on a completely rigged election.
Historically people don't aggressively vote against someone so the idea that people were voting against Trump and not for Biden is weak. Also Trump had like 90+% approval with Republicans, so when the Republicans overwhelmingly win down-ballot seats, who is voting for them? The same people who 90+% like Trump?
If you wanted to look like you cheated, this is how you would do it.
Remember how Florida was a battleground state? Lefties would find missing u-hauls full of ballots for weeks after every election. DeSantis gets in there, reported on time, no problems and somehow Trump came out with a crushing lead.
