Yes, the overthrow of British rule by the colonists was about as extreme as it could get. A group of people with no military or form of government, overthrowing a superpower? That is pretty fucking extreme.

You're good man, your statement above was entirely correct. For whatever reason, he didn't understand it. The overthrow of British rule was a huge risk to the colonists and their own welfare. They had no idea what would become of it. It was a last resort.

Completely agree, Kweebecker is spot-on.

They don't really give a shit whether we're stupid or not. They know they can say whatever, the media won't question it, Twitter would either say it's inconclusive if he was hacked, or just outright lie and make up some bullshit vague answer that nobody has time to pursue at this point.

If the private organization running something as important as the US Presidential debates had any integrity, they would simply say because we can't verify at this time the authenticity of the tweet, it has created a conflict of interest and we will replace the moderator. No big deal. But that probably won't be the case because stupid pieces of shit happen to be in charge of way too much in this country.

Ya that's the main issue though - I wouldn't really trust anything Twitter produced as evidence. Plenty of other people that can moderate .. no big deal.. just say due to conflict of interest, whether he tweeted or not, we are replacing in order to ensure the integrity of the debates.

2
wretch 2 points ago +2 / -0

Quite frankly the answer is obvious - in order to ensure the integrity of something as important as presidential debates the moderator should be removed. Hacked or not, there is no way to prove otherwise. At this point there is conflict of interest and not enough time to conduct a proper investigation (and also no point - just replace him there are plenty of other potential moderators.)

wretch 6 points ago +6 / -0

Exactly, anyone running for the office of President should be able to moderate themselves and carry out their own debates. If one person dominates (as Trump did- especially in the weak Republican primary debates) then there is probably a good reason for it. We don't need a private organization running the show and outsourcing the moderation to a corrupt corporate media.

wretch 2 points ago +2 / -0

Unfortunately the weakness of the Republican party is a double-edged sword. Trump was able to exploit their weakness in order to get into office. The democrats have been taking advantage of their vulnerabilities much longer, and will continue to do so until the weak Repubs are replaced with people who have some balls.

Voting can be our best weapon. Of course when the weapon is continuously loaded with duds it doesn't make a difference. Trump is not a dud by any means, he is wonderful. However, one well-placed bullet won't do the trick to take down this giant unfortunately. As Trump said today on Rush (paraphrased), the Republican party is fucking garbage.

This is so very important, and I have mentioned it here before as well. Such a simple act to pursue, and you would remove the lowest hanging fruit that these scum will attempt to grab.

It needs to happen. If he doesn't push for it now, it will be a huge opportunity gone to waste.

I'd be surprised if you found many Bush apologists here.

Trump needs to start moving a few different issues, one being marijuana (especially medicinal). These are cards the Dems are holding onto, and they will play them when most convenient. We cannot let them do this, especially when it comes to low hanging fruit like this. I'm fine with leaving a lot of this up to the states, but Trump needs to really be vocal about removing mary jane from Schedule 1, decriminalization, and perhaps releasing from prison anyone who is held for minor possession or anything other than trafficking.

I agree the student loan program needs to either end, or be entirely revamped. If they continue to exist, they should only be extended for programs that would provide a degree in a field that is in high demand at that time. I don't want to see people locked out of the possibility of college due to being super low-income, but of course there are scholarships available for that as well. Maybe it would be best to do away with it entirely, I don't know all of the ins-and-outs.

I also don't believe in student loan forgiveness, but if they were able to fix the issuing of the loans, then I'd be for cutting the interest rate on existing loans.. perhaps getting rid of the interest entirely if it means moving past this abomination.

Bottom line is - something needs to be done and it needs to be a main focus of Trump's second term. Whatever the hell the current iteration of this program is, there was no thought or planning that went into it .. at least to ensure it was done correctly. I would consider this to be a national crisis.

Public executions absolutely need to be brought back.

It blows my mind. Easy to watch it on television, but if I lived in that city, or if it was happening near my home it would be completely different. Unless there are people there speaking up and pushing back that we just don't hear about because it doesn't fit the agenda. It's crazy.
