It used to be that physicians had a say in how the hospital is run. Enough complain, and the division chief would go to the department chief, and the department chief would put a foot in someone's ass.
Now it's career administrators (yes, you can get a degree in Healthcare Administration if you're too clever for a career in HR) who order physicians around. Doctoring isn't doctoring anymore. It's dancing around policies and having the occasional LGBTQ+ ribbon day--then back to filling out your paperwork. 10 minutes of EMR data entry for a 5 minute visit with a patient. Ever go to your PCP and watch them spend most of the visit staring at a computer screen? They're trying to save time filling out all the bullshit instead of examining you or talking to you like a human being. All this is turning physicians into data mining drones--no wonder there was a glut of older docs who gtfo retired in the last decade after the healthcare act EMR requirements.

The real bifurcation in US politics, in my opinion, happened during the 2000 election. It got real nasty. Any decorum was thrown out of the window. And it got progressively super-slutty nasty in 2004. I blame GWB Jr. and that fat ugly bald muppet Karl Rove for it.
