I've worked with a number psychiatrists before, from chief to resident (professionally). The ones I've met were good people who mean well and are trying to work with patients under very difficult circumstances. There are just so many variables to deal with in these acute encounters, and it's a very -- very difficult job. Inpatient psychiatry is no joke. They're often dealing with multiple diagnoses/are managing patients under care of med hospitalists, and have to know medicine well to do so. In my opinion, they save lives.
What this lady has done by publicly broadcasting her spew is highly unethical, has undermined the reputation of the psychiatry department at Yale Med, and I'm surprised it has taken the administration so long to boot this cunt (it happened a year ago).
