No way GOP will allow it. Expect to get enough GOP senators to vote to convict in this sham impeachment to prevent him from running again. They didn’t fight a stolen election because they didn’t want him in office. The GOP would rather be a minority party in a socialist dystopian America than being in the majority in an America first country.
She lost GOP primary last time but refused to drop out . She pulled the ultimate voting scam running as a phony write in candidate. She got corrupt judges to rule her name had to be printed on the ballot as a write in candidate which isn’t a true write in candidate. Ballots had three printed names of candidates and all she needed was a plurality to win.
It has never been attempted before there has never been a reason. It would make sense the drafters intended it to be solely used to remove a sitting president not to punish one who left office. The impeachment language refers to the president, not a former president. There are other ways to punish a former president such as prosecution if he committed a crime in office.
Problem is we live in a post Constitutional era where logic, common sense, and established rules no longer seem to matter.
The rule of law requires equal application of the law regardless of party or position in society, everyone playing by the same rules and prosecuting everyone who does not, neutral arbiters called judges who act like baseball umpires deciding cases without caring which side wins, those making the rules they impose on others to follow them as well and adhering to the principle no one is above the law and we are a nation of laws not people. Difficult to say this is the case now. Maybe it never was but it was certainly not as bad in the past as it is now . In the past there was at least the pretense. Now we don’t even have the pretense.
The only reason courts exist is to provide a peaceful means for parties to resolve disputes by presenting their case to a neutral arbiter who doesn’t care which side wins so they don’t resolve it through a duel. This is one of the societal safety valves, the jury box. The other two are the soap box and the ballot box. All three are on life support.
So where are the arrests for showing a severed head of Trump? Or a play where Trump got assassinated? Or Madonna dreaming about blowing up the WH? Or Harris laughing about Pence and Trump being dead. There is never equal application of the law in a totalitarian regime.
Read Tales from the Bizarro World as a kid. It was a Superman comic book series about a cube shaped world where everything was the polar opposite of what was normal on earth. Doctor made you sick etc It was funny because it was an totally absurd world which defied all logic. Little did I know I would actually live in Bizarro World America as an adult.
No way Founders intended impeachment to be taken this lightly, or used this often. Up until 1972, a span of almost 200 years there was only one impeachment of Johnson. Since then in a span of fifty years, there have been four.
We didn’t have an election. We had a coup where the GOP was complicit.
