You wrote that many characters but could read the first three sentences of my post? :/
Viruses are resistant to many medications, and it can't be "stopped" with anything less than a vaccine. That doesn't mean it can't be treated.
Chloroquine and Lopinavir are both being tested and show preliminary success at treating COVID-19. I'm not sure how pharmacology is done in the US at this level, but if there's a block on chloroquine being used to treat COVID-19 cases then that block should be removed quickly by the CDC as the currently ongoing trials for chloroquine show positive results. Not sure why doctors wouldn't be allowed to use it, but again, not that knowledgeable.
We can both definitely agree that China's kneejerk reaction of HIDING the outbreak and trying to sweep it under the rug has led to a much worse outcome. They seem to be leaning on the idea that quarantining an entire fucking city is the proper way to handle outbreaks instead of learning their lesson and not suppressing people trying to help with the disastrous spread of a new virus...
I'd recommend giving this a watch. It may help you avoid becoming too nervous about the virality.
Proper handling of the flu is already in progress. Keep yourself safe out there 'pede, and make sure the elderly in your family are doing the same. Don't let your parent/grandparents go on flights if they're in the at-risk group, but don't give me this panic speech.
Honestly, if you're this passionate go handle it locally. Your town, your county, your state should hear some of these things in city council meetings or through letters. Why in the FUCK do you think yelling at us will make anything better though?
As Trump so eloquently stated, we lost over 20,000 people to the flu this year. It's sad that people are dying, but panicking and trying to re-invent disease control is just going to cause more problems.
Why do you think we're not working on a cure? The whole world wants to develop a vaccine for this, you're acting crazy. Is this your first time hearing about a new virus?
So you're saying that for our 300,000,000 population, we should have about 4,800 open critical care beds at this very moment. I won't argue. You're implying several other things:
All COVID-19 cases require critical care for their duration
Not true.
We can't add new beds or convert existing hospital infrastructure for critical care
Not true.
There will be substantially more than 4,800 COVID-19 cases at once in the US, up to potentially 100,000 patients in critical condition at one time
Very doubtful. We currently have a small number of cases, and as Thunderf00t's video on the subject shows, this is very unlikely to balloon to numbers we can't handle.
COVID-19 can't be stopped with U.S. medicine, but instead needs some nebulous treatment that I want you to talk about but won't tell you what it is
?!
You need to get a grip my man. This thing isn't the end of the world, be calm and figure your shit out.
The fatality rate for anyone below 40 years old is .2%. 40-49 is .4%. 50-59 is 1.3%. Any fatalities in those age brackets of politically inconvenient people should be heavily scrutinized.
Haha, as if there's anyone left outside of the gulag to scrutinize party politics in China.
Your name is ironic there u/AlphaOverBeta
There are enough MAGA women out there for all us 'pedes. Find a woman whose politics are reasonable and have kids together. If you are trying to change your SO to match your political beliefs, it'll just result in pain for both of you.
There's no way Trump can lose against Senator Stutter here. It's got me wondering whether the DNC has a prior agreement to give Trump the second term?
That said, make sure to go out and VOTE people! That's how we won 2016, that's how we win 2020!
I thought it was a joke from the beginning. It's common parlance that to "torpedo" is to do poorly. To "Joepedo" is to lose a presidential race because of your senility and pedophilia.
